Autodidact | Erin Shea

(an abecedarian poem)

autodidact, I am
beginning to imitate the
cacophony of life without
direction.
each naked moment
fragile and fleeting
gestates behind my eyes
haunted and helpless may I heal.
/
immemorial statues
jailed by time and
kaleidoscopic in their kindness
lichen sprouting from their
marble flesh to
nurse my cosmic worry.
offer me beauty in the unknown
pulse.
/
querent, I am
reflective to a fault and
stuck in motion, orbiting
today and tomorrow with
unsettled inspiration as
Venus embodies flighty charm
watchful for the next spark of
xanthic light, suspended
/
yearning, my eyes lift to
zenith, at last.
